We’re excited to spotlight a recent deployment between Makinex Renewables and Degnan that’s transforming how urban construction sites are powered—starting with the Unanderra Rail Infrastructure Project.
Degnan’s Unanderra Station Upgrade, part of Transport for NSW’s Transport Access Program, improved accessibility with a new footbridge, lifts, and upgraded pathways. The project featured biophilic design, Aboriginal cultural integration, and sustainable practice.
To meet the growing demand for low-carbon construction, Degnan worked with Makinex Renewables—Australia’s leader in construction site renewable energy to implement their Deployable Solar Container Top 5kW System—a renewable energy solution designed for flexibility, speed, and sustainability.
By mounting solar panels on 20ft or 40ft shipping containers, the system offers a mobile, space-efficient setup that can be rapidly deployed on even the tightest job sites. It integrates seamlessly with local grids, supports plug-and-play AC connection, and significantly reduces reliance on noisy diesel generators.
This innovation wasn’t just successful—it’s been actively shared across industry forums helping other contractors understand how deployable containerised solar can simplify approvals and meet decarbonisation goals without sacrificing reliability.u
