Remote Site, Real Savings: Goorambat’s $15K/month Fuel Reduction with HPS20

Makinex Renewables Jul 14, 2025 12:51:53 PM

At Goorambat Solar Farm in northern Victoria, innovation meets sustainability. This 250MWac, 5,000 PV paneled project— slated to power up to 105,000 homes—is also setting the benchmark for how large-scale renewable sites can run cleaner and smarter during construction.

Powering People, Not Just Panels

To support over 30 workers across the site, Goorambat required satellite crib facilities with power for toilets, lunch areas, and climate control—all in remote locations with no grid access.

The Solution? 4x Hybrid Power Systems (HPS20).

Deployed by Kennards Hire for Bouygues Construction, each system combines solar and battery power with backup diesel, seamlessly powering the site’s four satellite office.

Performance Snapshot:

✅ Diesel reduced by 90%
✅ 30% of energy demand met by solar
✅ Over 17 tonnes CO₂ saved per p/month
✅ Over 6,000L diesel saved p/month
✅ Over $15k in fuel costs saved p/month
